On Business
How did you get into the permanent make up business?
Permanent makeup allows me to do my work wherever I want. I am in love with it! So, I keep doing it and still love it! More and more! I love to make people happier, and sometimes I get to save them from their insecurities manifesting.
What would you say one of your secrets to success are?
I would say, you should be a really good ear and therapist for your clients. Most of them are nervous just because all of us know about the bad permanent make up experiences you can find on social media. I always try to be nice with my clients. It’s very important to have a good connection.
How has social media helped to grow your business?
All of my clients that I have are from social media, especially from Instagram. I try to post pictures with my work every day. The most important thing is my clients recommend me to their friends, so I know they like results and my work. I really appreciate it.
How has your confidence grown since the start of your career doing permanent make up for your clients?
At the beginning of my career I was so nervous after each procedure, because you never know how it will end up. But now I know for sure everything is fine and it takes time and patience from both me and my clients. I always keep in touch with each client to make sure they are not disappointed and remind them of changes to expect during healing process.
On the procedure
Why do you think permanent make up is such a popular choice in Beverly Hills?
A lot of my clients choose permanent makeup purely to avoid applying make-up every day. This procedure really saves a lot of time in the morning. Wake up and you’re already beautiful and don’t have to waste your time for usual makeup. It’s a dream for everyone.
Can you explain the procedure a bit more?
So, permanent makeup (also called semi-permanent make-up, cosmetic tattooing, or micropigmentation) is a procedure where pigments are placed under the skin using topical anesthetic cream. This process is more commonly known for its use cosmetically for creating nicely defined eyebrows, eyeliner and lips.
Would you say that the permanent make up procedure goes beyond vanity?
Absolutely, I used to deal with patients undergoing chemotherapy, people with cleft lips, scars and other skin and hair conditions. Medical tattooing is also very commonly used after breast surgery for recreating the areolae.
On Identity
At the moment it seems as though everything we do is being judged, would you say you have any insecurities? If so, how has permanent make up helped you to embrace any insecurities that you have?
I feel like I have problems with lips - I definitely think I make permanent make up lips work for me. It's funny, a lot of my clients ask me, “what color did you use for your lips? I want the same!” It’s a big compliment for me.
What is your favourite make up trend at the moment?
You know, I don’t wear a lot of makeup, I like natural nude. I have been traveling a lot and in Russia and Europe, it’s a trend to look natural. Natural nails, nude makeup, hair and etc.
You seem unstoppable right now. What does the future hold for you and your brand?
My job makes people happier and prettier - that’s a big reason why I love my job so much. I have a lot of plans and I try to improve my techniques of getting the greatest results for my clients! So, maybe I’ll open a bigger studio in another location soon, who knows? I’m thinking about it.
