Many men don't bother with skincare routines, some don't know where to start and others believe it's too feminine to even have a 'skincare routine'. Student, Sumeet Raj is here to show and tell us how easy it is to have one.
We interviewed Sumeet with a quick Q&A to find out his 'go-to' products, get a low down on his skincare routine and provide some advice for the men out there who have no idea what they're doing!

Have you ever suffered with a skin condition?
Yes, yes I have. When I was younger I used to have eczema very badly, from the age of 12-13. It really affected me because during Spring and Summer (the warmer months) parts of my body used to react and then as a result of me scratching, it would cut and bleed.
What skin type do you have?
I believe I may have oily/combination skin but I guess I should become more aware of this because at the moment I only buy what I think would help my skin... But I'm doing alright so far!
Did you have any inspiration in regards to starting a skincare routine?
All 13 of my female cousins are my biggest inspirations as they all care about the way they look and subconsciously I was always looking at them and watching what they were doing to their skin. So I thought I might as well try it out myself. Firstly, I bought a face wash to help clear up any blackheads and whiteheads and then I gradually bought more and more products like face scrubs.
What is your 'go-to' product and why?
I use L'Oreal black charcoal face wash. I use it roughly three times a week so my skin has enough time to breathe and create its natural oils, which I believe are meant to protect the skin.
Why do you think having a skincare routine is perceived as feminine?
Skincare is in the context of beauty and, historically, women were described as the gender that advocated beauty. So for a man to look at skincare, they associate it with beauty and femininity.
Is there any advice you'd give to guys going forward?
For the guys out there who are ignorant towards skincare routines and acknowledging your skin issues, I say that nobody needs to know. To educate yourself and understand the skin you live in is extremely important. It doesn't just strengthen the skin, but can also create a positive social impact on your life - people will respect you for looking clean and healthy.
Here is Sumeet's skincare tutorial. What are your thoughts? Are you ready to start your own routine?
