We often eat healthy food but now the drinks industry is catching up. Yoghurts with probiotics, smoothies providing multivitamins, protein shakes and now we have tea loaded with health and beauty properties.
With increasing health awareness, people are more inclined to look for more natural ways to improve their health than ever before. Research has shown that natural herbs and spices such as cardamom, cassia bark, anise and many others have been proven to reduce health problems and improve skin.
Since backpacking for 3 months in Asia to explore her roots, Cathryn James is launching Elctrk Tea this Autumn with tea jam-packed with herbs, flavours and aromas to benefit your health and skin. She believes, “as the years pass, society is becoming more and more health conscious and I believe Elctrk Tea will flourish in this industry.” She is introducing traditional Indian tea with a ‘fresh new vibrant twist’.
The Canadian brand will start off as an online shop, (shipping to the UK and worldwide) and once well established, Cathryn aims to have pop up shops in the UK and elsewhere. Once internationally recognised she would love to “create tearooms, which I like to think as modern-day cafes”, she states.
Cathryn continued by explaining how the teas all have different health benefits, especially for the skin. “One tea blend will have various health benefits jam packed in one, for example, one tea will be beneficial for inflammation, skin, hair and joint pain etc…”. The brand also has a certified nutritionist and all the benefits will be listed/described on the packaging.
The tea leaves are purchased from a wholesaler in India and “each tea leaf has been specifically tested and paired with the right herbs and spices to capture a spicy Indian experience.
“The other herbs and spices are from an Indian grocery store and are then dehydrated and blended, – all the ingredients are natural,” she says.
Cathryn spent a year researching and then months creating a name: “I didn’t want it to be Indian focused but wanted it to draw all different ethnic backgrounds but still express the idea behind my teas. I consider my teas spicy, with a kick.
“We plan on pushing the creative limits with Elctrk Tea's branding, marketing, content, packaging, accessories and all things tea.”
